It is initiated by hormonal signals from the brain to the gonads : the ovaries in a girl, the testes in a boy. No two people are exactly alike, but one thing everyone has in common is that we all go through Puberty. Usually, puberty starts between ages 8 and 13 in girls and ages 9 and 15 in boys.
